Meeting Rooms

Availability

Priority is given to Library sponsored and co-sponsored activities or events. Nonprofit groups will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, no earlier than 45 days before the requested date. The meeting room is available for use during open hours. All meetings must end at least 15 minutes prior to closing, and individuals must exit the building before our doors are locked.

If the Library closes for any reason, Meeting Room reservations will be cancelled. If the Library needs to cancel a reservation, it will make every reasonable effort to give ample notice and assist the group in reserving another date. Groups are encouraged to verify the Library has not had an emergency closure prior to arriving.

Refreshments

  • Simple items like coffee, doughnuts, punch, or box lunches are allowed. Refreshments should not be taken from the Meeting Room to other Library areas. Alcohol is not permitted.
  • The Library does not provide containers, cups, drinks, or paper goods. Our Charlie Cart is for Library use only.
  • Groups using the room must remove all trash and restore the area to its original condition. Failure to do so may result in a $25.00 clean-up charge.

Rules

  • Group attendance must not exceed the room’s maximum occupancy as certified by the Fire Department.
  • The Library Director and Board of Trustees reserve the right to cancel applications.
  • Birthday parties and showers are not allowed.
  • No admission fees, direct marketing/solicitation, or sales.
  • Programs cannot imply Library sponsorship.
  • An adult must supervise children under 13.

Liability

The Library is not responsible for damage or loss to equipment or materials owned or rented by groups, individuals, or organizations using the Meeting Room. Users must cover all costs for accidental or willful damage to the Library building, collections, equipment, or grounds during their meeting.

Anyone organizing a meeting at the Norwalk Public Library must absolve and hold harmless, the Library, its employees, and officers from any liability related to damages, injuries, or losses arising from the meeting or program.
