Library Responsibilities
The Library, in keeping with its mission of free and public access to the widest possible variety of information, provides computers and internet, plus access to databases from CLEVNET and OPLIN (Ohio Public Information Network).
It is the Library’s intention to provide all patrons and staff with computer and internet access for educational, informational, and recreational purposes, while making sure public funds are used appropriately. To this end, the Library may set regulations such as:
- Requiring reservations or using a first come, first served basis
- Restricting the number of people at a computer
- Time limits on use
User Responsibilities
- Users should respect the privacy of others.
- Users should avoid creating disturbances.
- Users must not engage in activities that violate local, state, or federal laws.
- Violating the Library’s Code of Conduct is not allowed.
- Attempting to gain access to passwords, interfere with others’ information, or modify files is prohibited. Users must not attempt unauthorized access to computers or networks.
- Only approved software may be run on Library computers.
- Connecting personal devices to the Library network requires permission, but public wireless access is available.
- Damaging or tampering with Library hardware or software is not allowed.
- Compromising computer security or distributing worms/viruses is prohibited.
- Users must not impersonate others or engage in fraudulent activity.
- Promptly exit inappropriate sites if accidentally accessed.
- Displaying obscene or illegal content is not allowed. Violations may result in suspension or revocation of privileges, and illegal activities will be reported to the police.
